Alternate Dates- FAQ for Hoteliers

Answers to the most common hotelier questions about proposing alternate dates in HopSkip.

Having trouble with the + Propose New Dates button, or not sure why your dates won't stick? You're in the right place.

Are you a planner looking to enable alternate dates on your RFP? See: Allowing Hotels to Propose Alternate Dates on Your RFP

First: Understand what "Day 3 with 0 rooms" means

Before proposing alternate dates, make sure you're reading the room block correctly. A day showing 0 rooms in the original request is the departure day β€” it is not an extra night to fill.

Your alternate date range must mirror the planner's pattern exactly: same number of nights, same room counts per night. Do not add or remove nights.

⚠️ Example: If the original request shows 50 rooms on Night 1, 50 rooms on Night 2, and 0 rooms on Day 3 β€” that is a 2-night program with a departure day. Your alternate dates should follow the same structure: 2 nights, matching room counts.

The "+ Propose New Dates" button is greyed out β€” why?

There are three possible reasons:

1. The planner hasn't enabled alternate dates for this RFP

This is the most common cause. If the tooltip says "Planner didn't allow to propose new date," the setting is off for this RFP. The planner controls this toggle per RFP β€” just because they allowed it on a past RFP doesn't mean it's on for this one.

What to do: Reach out to the planner via the Message tab within the RFP and ask them to enable alternate dates. You can also mention which dates or start days you'd like them to add.

2. This is a Market Availability lead

Market Availability leads do not support the alternate dates feature β€” the button will appear but cannot be clicked regardless of any settings. This is a current platform limitation.

What to do: Use the Message tab to communicate your available dates directly to the planner and discuss options from there.

3. You may be logged into a different account than the one added to the RFP

If you have more than one HopSkip account, you must be logged in with the specific email that was invited to this RFP. If you're unsure which that is, reach out via chat and we can confirm.

My dates don't fit the allowed start days β€” what do I do?

Alternate dates are not open-ended. The planner sets which days of the week a program can start on, and your proposed dates must begin on one of those approved days.

When you open the + Propose New Dates calendar, approved start days are highlighted. Any other start day will be unselectable.

If the start day you need isn't available, message the planner via the Message tab and let them know which start day you'd like them to add. Once they update the setting, you'll be able to select that day.

Can I propose alternate dates on a Market Availability lead?

No β€” alternate dates are not supported on Market Availability leads. If you have available dates you'd like to share, use the Message tab to communicate them to the planner directly.

The planner confirmed they enabled it, but the button is still greyed out

A few things to check:

  • Make sure you're logged into the correct account β€” the email must match what was added to the RFP

  • Try a browser refresh or clear your cache

  • If it's still not working after the above, reach out via chat β€” this can occasionally be a platform-side issue that needs investigation
